RUFF n READY! New RUFHOUSE MAG is out!

One of the pleasures of working at RUFSKIN is that we get to accumulate our photographic adventures into an E-ZINE we call RUFHOUSE MAG. Created sporadically throughout the year, RUFHOUSE MAG offers you the viewer a glimpse into our current RUFSKIN styles as well as other brands photographed on faraway and exotic locations or the RUFHOUSE STUDIOS in Rancho Mirage. Below is our latest issue. We started again on issue 1 but we are up to 3 volumes made up of 12 issues. This issue focused primarily on our new sportswear line ULTRASPORT made up custom prints and futuristic details as well as our signature denim pieces, photographed in the best footwear possible, cowboy boots. California style comes in a lot of layers and in this case we took it to a rough and tumble demolition derby car race in the Inland Empire of Riverside County, California. We got Logan to wear our new TROOPER “sunkissed” button-down shirt paired with our BAILEY Japanese denim patchwork jeans. With his bleached hair and rat-tail and muddy vintage cowboy boots completed our adventurous look into this sexy Californian countryman. This shoot was quite memorable as it was towards the end of summer and the breeze was warm and dusty with the most epic sunset ever.

We tripped big time on belts that were meant to be worn super long so it hung down the side of your leg. It was embellished with a metal buckle with the letter “R” engraved on the front. Brett was one of our models from that time. We loved his profile. What with his flat Grecian nose and curly hair, Brett was stunning and a perfect fit for RUFKSIN. In these series of photos, Brett is seen wearing our padded work jeans, braided belt, boot cut leather custom pants, and a stretch denim muscle shirt. These were photographed in late 2002 and as you can see we used a makeshift background in our alley! Ah, the good ole days!

Manscape? No way! This is Valentino and we found him in San Diego dancing at a club in town. We were immediately taken with his push-broom mustache and movie star looks. Burt Reynolds anyone? Below are some images we found in our archives that featured Mr. Valentino in our current swim and stretch denim jeans from that period. We especially love the stretch denim vest and how he looked in our RUFSKIN version of a Brazilian sunga. Which one is one of your favorites?

Going deep into the archives…with Bitish hunk Nigel Meadows!

If there was ever an adjective to describe Nigel Meadows from this 2013 photo spread it would be dreamboat! Nigel hails from Manchester England and has the epitome RUFSKIN look, so his great body and charming British accent made for another memorable time in the California desert. As you can see below, this was one of our collections we created for our stores that were based in New York and Amsterdam at the time. We were, of course, channeling the western man and his attitudes but this story was also called Brotherhood and has the iconic photo of both Nigel and Logan Alan Swiecki Taylor sharing joint together.

Hairy and handsome real-life couple Jason Blair @jjbear83 and Giovanni Aurilia @inked5 are hot! Yes, it was hot as hell in our RUFSKIN STUDIO the day that these were taken, but they are super sexy hot in real life too. So when they were visiting us at the Rufhouse recently we asked them to try on a few of our current and upcoming styles, from stretch denim to our new Calkini. Needless to say, the results were nothing short of intense heat and handsomeness galore, causing quite a stir on our social media as well.

What is this RUFHOUSE MAGAZINE all about anyway? RUFHOUSE was born out the necessity to showcase the current photos that we took on our adventurous location shoots, photographic tests with friends or images deriving from our actual RUFHOUSE STUDIO. Cataloging these images in one place like RUFHOUSE gives us the chance to share our work with an e-zine concept for our customers and followers to see. We wrote an editorial letter of sorts at the beginning of issue 12 that sums up the entire contents of our you will need a tissue issue, but below one will find some of our favorite screen-grabs as well as brief info about each of the photo essays. Up first is Josh aka @jaye_slay. We met Josh via a friend of ours in San Diego and wanted to see him in various looks and styles. As you can see he is sort of a chameleon as his looks changes from one style to another. We especially like the sailor look that came together using vintage RUFSKIN pieces. He also looks he knows how to ride a motorcycle:)

Next up come the men. Real-life couple Jason Blair @jjbear83 and Giovanni Aurilia @inked5 gave us a dose of masculinity and romance on the rocks at Black Lava Butte near Joshua Tree, CA. In addition to being super nice, one can get the feeling that these two men really love each other. We particularly love how the images of the khaki short shorts or (Romeo) on these two.

Here is LOGAN. RUFSKIN muse and another chameleon. This time Logan is sporting bleach blond hair and wearing uber 90’s styling.

Then voila! The story of all stories from our guest photographer Baldovino Barani al la #factoryfanzine. using the handsome Wilfred Wong @thatwilfred in an all American boy story using our current swimwear group. God Bless ‘merica!

Matt Bechstein @mcbex444 a friend of ours from Palm Springs, worked it out BIG time for us in the RUFHOUSE STUDIO one Saturday afternoon. What a sexy dude! Besides the fact it was like a million degrees outside, we had to hose him down throughout the shoot which proved to be perfect for our some of our ( uh hum) transparent pieces from our collection. Enjoy!

Lastly, we find Mr. LOGAN @lswieckitay with pink af hair this time!!! That shade of pink with the contrast of African clothing and tie-dye has Logan twisting and turning into all sorts of shapes. The BOXOL red and navy swimsuit is one of our favorite images.! And you?

We had the privilege to work with RICK DAY who photographed a number of our campaigns and website images some years back. It was always cool to see what RICK came up with and how he would photograph our clothing from the current collection from the time. Below you will discover hunky models, ZEB RINGLE @zebringle and STEVE BOYD who became our RUFSKIN models for the season. The collections at that time showcased our silver metallic customer leather pieces, sublimated graffiti sportswear, California vintage underwear and farm wear featuring our Brando denim jeans. A lot of these styles and images are still very much relative today, something that is not always prevalent in the fashion biz.

What can we say about Charly? Charly was a huge inspiration to a pair of stretch denim jeans from the early years that went on to being one of our best sellers. CHARLY was a pair of jeans that rested low on the hips, didn’t have a waistband and hugged the ass like it was a second skin. Fresh from the marines, we were lucky to have him pose for RUFSKIN STUDIOS a number of times. As you can see, besides his handsome face, Charly had an incredible body that was a perfect fit for our brand.
