SS13 // RUFSKIN’s Catalan Swimwear Capsule marks an important period in RUFSKIN history. Released in March, this capsule was inspired by the sovereign territory of Catalonia which covers parts of Spain and the South of France. Bordered by the mediterranean sea, this is the homeland of RUFSKIN’s owner/designer Hubert Pouches. The capsule focused on fits that complement natural body features, with a wide range of cuts, color-block patterns, and the classic swim ’13 R-logo. What a time!

V Magazine’s Fall Preview 2014 Issue features “LESS IS MORE,” a super chic editorial photographed by Mario Testino. In the story, Clark Bockelman wears Cadaques and Hutton, 2 iconic styles from the RUFSKIN Catalan capsule with styling by Sarajane Hoare. The woman on the cover is Chicago born fashion model Amanda Murphy.  Grooming James Pecis + Make-up Courtney Perkins.

It is almost 4 years ago that RUFSKIN had the opportunity to team up with the infamously sexy TOM OF FINLAND FOUNDATION. Our press release at the time read like this: San Diego, CA, USA – January 28, 2015 – RUFSKIN is pleased to announce an exclusive and unprecedented collection of athletic apparel created with Tom of Finland Foundation in Los Angeles. The 15-piece collection, featuring images and inspiration from the works of legendary artist Tom of Finland (Touko Laaksonen, Finnish 1920-1991), is a seamless bridging of art and fashion, fusing RUFSKIN’s aesthetic and designs with the iconic visual language of TOM.

“My goal when I was asked to collaborate with such an iconic name was to showcase the incredible work of an artist who insistently pushed the boundaries of art and sex and translating it into an “athletic” wardrobe, which is today fully part of our daily routine.” – Hubert Pouches. 

We held a launch event in 3 cities worldwide including Los Angeles, New York City, and Amsterdam and each featured the sportswear collection that was created for the Foundation. Fashion Editor for Paper Magazine Kevin Breen reached out to us here at headquarters in San Diego back in Summer of 2018 – He had been working closely with Mickey Boardman (Editorial Director) to develop a special story for the digital July fashion calendar – 100 male models were to be shot over a series of 5 days wearing swimwear so, of course, we jumped right on it!
